GIS lectures on Jalalabad university

At the beginning of October 2023, a lecture on predictive modeling of the Silk Road route through the Pamirs (from Osh to Kashgar) was held at the Jalalabad University (Institute of History).

The lecture is part of the analysis of the settlement of southern Kyrgyzstan, which is carried out by the Czech-Kyrgyz Archaeological Expedition.
We thank our colleagues from the university for a great atmosphere and a long discussion. The debate about General Mannerheim’s travels through Central Asia proved to be particularly stimulating.

  1. I am interested in the trading route/s between the Fergana valley and Kashgar. Both Wilhelm Barthold and Guy Le Strange report on this issue. However, their reports cover major cities or settlements. At the same time, medieval geographical locations are used instead of modern ones. Thanks for your work, which makes a more detailed and updated map possible.
Look forward to follow your research!!!
