First Czechs and Slovaks in Kyrgyzstan – Interhelpo project

The first contact between Central Europe and Kyrgyzstan (excluding ephemeral travelers) was the Interhelpo project – a communist project of enthusiasts who left Czechoslovakia in an effort to help the newly formed Soviet Union.

The issue is relatively well historically elaborated in books and also on the Internet. Most recently, a historical documentary from the workshop of Soviet propagandists was posted on Youtube, which depicts Interhelpo as a harbinger of a happy tomorrow based on the industrialization of Kyrgyzstan.
